Colleagues,

Although many of us are currently in the depths of snowy winter and dark and heavy times, let our thoughts of gathering once again for the CCNY conference remind us of warmer, brighter days to come! We are excited to announce that the 44th Annual CCNY Conference will be held from June 3rd-5th and co-hosted by three campuses: Clarkson University, St. Lawrence University (SLU) and SUNY Potsdam. Please save the date and plan on attending. Our campuses are located in the beautiful North Country, a region just north of the Adirondack Park and 20 miles from the Canadian border. One of the treasures of the North Country is our beautiful natural environment! Consider arriving early or extending your stay after the conference for a vacation. This website is chock full of ideas of things to do in the area. During the conference, you’ll have the opportunity to explore each campus. Here are some links that might interest you:  ClarksonSLUSUNY Potsdam.

A perennial highlight of our gathering is listening and learning about the diverse and creative work of our colleagues. Please consider submitting a proposal the deadline is March 27th.  All program topics are welcome! CCNY is a great space to present whether you’re a veteran or a novice to conference presentations. Your presentations will be joining two very special speakers this year for our pre-conference. We’re fortunate to have the following folks coming to CCNY:

Dr. Thomas Murphy, LMHC-D, NCC, ACS will be presenting at our pre-conference on Ethics and Boundaries. This is a great opportunity for anyone needing mandatory ethics CEU’s for licensure. Tom Murphy completed a doctorate in Counselor Education and Practice at Georgia State University. He is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York, a National Certified Counselor, an Approved Clinical Supervisor, and is certified by EMDRIA as an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) clinician. He provided clinical services (trauma focused) at Positive Impact Health Centers in Decatur, GA. He’s also conducted workshops on Clinical Supervision, Telemental Health, and Supervision Ethics; and provided supervision and clinical practice at Advanced Counselor Training & Supervision, LLC in Atlanta. Tom is currently an Assistant Professor of Counseling at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY, as well as owns a private counseling practice.

Mary Kelly Jones, BSW, is a respected leader in grief care, education, and community collaboration, retiring in 2025 after a 31-year career at Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley, where she served as Director of Family Support Services. She is the visionary behind When Grief Comes to School, a countywide initiative that brought grief education, suicide postvention, crisis response, and professional development to both public and private schools in St. Lawrence County. For 17 years, Mary also taught an oversubscribed course on death and dying as an adjunct instructor at SUNY Potsdam, earning the President’s Award for Adjunct Teaching in 2021. Mary’s expertise extended beyond the classroom and her leadership roles, as she co-hosted The Traveler’s Guide to Life, a podcast by Hospice, and developed a comprehensive death and grief resource library. She presented grief, bereavement, and end-of-life care at various levels, including international, national, state, and local forums. She is now enjoying retirement with her husband and is a proud mother to two and grandmother to six. She continues to indulge her passion for Day of the Dead art and love of dark humor.

We would love to have you come and enjoy the opportunity we are offering with these presenters. Please submit program proposals and block off June 3-5! More details coming soon on accommodations, activities and local opportunities,  registration, and schedule.

Forever Grateful,
Kira, Diamante, and Josh
